Malaysia’s top pair was seen as the candidate of choice for the mixed doubles title at the tournament as a platform to find the best combination in the SEA Games which will take place in the capital, August next year and the Commonwealth Games in 2018 in Gold Coast, Australia.

Nicol and Nafiizwan between 50 doubles, including nine couples from abroad who will compete in the men’s doubles, women’s and mixed.

Player No. 5 world, Nicol and Nafiizwan who inhabit ranking No. 29 world also competed in the women’s doubles and jlelaki.

Nicol will be paired with a youngster growing Sivasangari Subramaniam in the women’s doubles, while Nafiizwan also paired with Ivan Yuen to rival the men’s doubles.


Besides these two players, the game will also feature a pair of siblings of players No. 15 world, Delia Arnold were paired with her sister, Rachel.

Delia also competed in mixed doubles when she teamed up with Sanjay Singh and they are seeded second in the championship.

Director of Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia (SRAM), Major (Rtd) S. Maniam said, the competition is held for the purpose of selecting and measuring the strength of the players in the national team ahead of the SEA Games and the Commonwealth Games.
