The national junior women’s doubles pair, Yiwen Chan-S. Sivasangari surprisingly beat second seeded, Azman AIFA-Andrea Lee to reach the final of the Malaysian Open Squash Championships Ohana today.
However, they struggled before finally getting rid of AIFA, the British Junior Open champion, and his partner Andrea after a lag of 7-10 in the first set before fighting back to win 11-10, 6-11, 11-10 in a grueling during 37 minutes.
They are expected to face a tough challenge in the final as the pair had to compete with agility Arnold sisters, Delia and Rachel, who makes Aika Azman Li-Wen Lai 11-6, 11-5 in the other semi-final at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil here.
However, Yiwen, 16, and Sivasangari, 17, promised to spare no effort to solve the couple who won a bronze medal at the International Doubles Championships their meeting tomorrow.
“Of course is challenging because they are a strong partner and quite compatible. However, we will try and fight to the end to give his best,” said Sivasangari, Commonwealth Youth Games champion said.
